Christmas Goodness

Hello Everyone,

I am feeling a little better today. I have had a cold since Friday. Anyway, we have had so much snow and we were stuck inside for 3 days! But I wanted to share with you some Christmas goodness that happened in those days.

First our little gingerbread men...

Aren't they cute, lined up like little soldiers...

Hmmm.... they are not only cute, but yummy too!

I was able to find the rest of the nutcrackers, so here are a few pictures.

I love them all, so colorful.

I especially like the Santa nutcracker counting down the days 'til Christmas.

And yesterday my hubby came home with these. They were a gift from some one at work.

You really can't tell in the picture, but they are HUGE. About the size of a golfball!! You can probably cut them in half to make them last longer. Yummy!

For those of you who are in the Black and White Quilt Challenge, go here and check out Nancy's quilt for a little inspiration.  My NEXT post is 100, so be on the look out for something special!

Here is wishing you all a very Happy Holiday season!

A Finish and Christmas!

Hello Everyone,

As you know I have been very busy finishing customer quilts. Well, guess what? I am done, at least until after the new year. So now Christmas can finally begin for me and my family! I do have to say that throughout 2008 I saw some beautiful quilts pass through my doors. All my customers give me so much inspiration. I am thankful that each and everyone of them give me the opportunity to make their tops into quilts! Thank you all and keep them coming in 2009!

So I did mention something about a finish. Well last November, 2007 I had completed 2 quilt tops. You can see and read about them in my post here. I finally quilted and bound the first one and gave it to my girlfriend's daughter last week...

We quickly put it on her bed. She loved it! Isn't it a very teen room???

She was quick to tell me it looked like a page out of the PB Teen catalog. You know what she is right. I have followed up with my friend and she has been making her bed everyday now and just got her license on Thursday. I guess having a nice quilt can inspire any teen to make their bed. So go out and make one for a teen.

Now onto Christmas... I thought I would share with you some of our nutcrackers.

They all have a story and are all unique in some way.

However, I said to my family that I think we didn't put all of them out.

But I am not sure where the others can be. We just need to dig deeper.

Here is our Christmas tree. I do really like the way it looks.

Lastly, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who responded to my last post in the comments or via e-mail and asked for the pillowcase pattern. I am overwhelmed. The kids from the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp are going to be thrilled. I am receiving pillowcases and fabric to make the cases from all over the world!! You are all very kind hearted and generous, THANK YOU!!

My next post is 99, so be on the look out for something special!

Until next time, Happy Quilting and Merry Christmas!!

Generosity Abounds!!

Hello Everyone,

Even though Christmas is fast approaching, I am still busily quilting away at customers quilts. Oh, and now my December newsletter is available. However, I have had some time to get together with friends for dinner and lunch. This is always fun! A little sewing has been going on, but not much.

This week was a wonderful week and I would like to talk about what 2 of my wonderful blogging friends have done. First, I would like to talk about Stephanie. This week I received a box, which you see here:

You can see it is filled with her wonderful snuggly pillowcases. She had been having a giveaway on her blog. No, I did not win. However, I had mentioned in my comment that if I did win the 1 pillowcase, I would donate it to the Hole In The Wall Gang Kids Camp. It is a charity of our guild and each child goes home with one of our pillowcases. It is located here in Connecticut. These kids suffer from a variety of ailments from Cancer to Serious Blood diseases and also have many special needs. Any way, our goal as a guild is to donate over 300 pillowcases this year for the kids. We are not a big guild, so it is is a big task.

So when I did not win, Stephanie wrote an e-mail saying how much this touched her heart and would be sending me some of her pillowcases as she would like to contribute. I immediately responded thanking her. To my surprise, she sent 15, yes, 15 wonderful flannel pillowcases to be loved by these children.

Many, many thanks to Stephanie!!!! She even included the pink one on top for me. How sweet is that! I just couldn't believe it, my heart is overflowing. So I am going to offer to anyone out there who is interested in donating a pillowcase or two to my guild for the Hole In The Wall Gang, to e-mail me, I have a wonderful pillowcase pattern I can send to you and my address. So, if you are interested, please contact me, trust me the children will be grateful!!

Now onto my next blogging sweetie, Jane! When I set up the Black and White Quilt Challenge Project, Jane was one of the first ones to sign on, yay Jane! After it got going she realized quickly how many wonderful blogging people had signed on and that I was working hard answering e-mails and posting people in the sidebar, responding to comments, well you get the picture.

So any way, she wanted to do something nice for me. I said, "for me, why?" she said, "just because". Well, how nice was that. I was not expecting anything in return for having a fun time with my blogging friends making Black and White Quilts.

So, I received this in the mail this week:

Jane knows that I like 30's fabrics and I love what she has sent to me!! I can't wait to use them they are absolutely lovely. Thank you soooooo much Jane, you are a sweet heart!

That was my week in a nutshell.  So I say, we should all try to show some random acts of kindness this month. It really makes you feel good as well as the recipient. I know I am doing just that....

By the way 3 more posts until 100!

Until next time, Happy Quilting!

P.S. My friend Deb has now placed all her inventory at 75% off. Go visit her at Gone Quilting.

Fun Stuff

Hello Everyone,

I know we are all really busy with the holidays upon us. I am no exception. I have been busy with the kids, tying up loose ends, finishing customer quilts, and trying to get a little "me" sewing time.

I wanted to share some of the "me" sewing time first. It is not always just me, it is often my helper Rolo.  I have a small quilt next to my sewing machine that keeps him comfy. Here he is in all his glory.
Here he is all tuckered out from all the strain of watching me sew. He just loves it, can't you tell!

Here is a look at him from a distance. Yes he is a big guy, all 22 pounds of love!

I also thought that I would share a few purchases I could not resist. These little fat quarter packs from Bee Square Fabrics. Aren't they great.... love them!

This kit from Nanette at Freda's Hive, I just couldn't resist. I can't wait to make it up! I love the fabrics she chose for it and the cute covered button.

She also included this cute little ornament that smells so nice. It is already hanging on my tree! Thanks Nanette! **** Edit **** Quick hurry over to Nannette's, she is having a fantastic giveaway ALL week long!!

Also, as some of you are aware my friend Deb's brick and mortar quilt shop Gone Quilting went out of business in June. However, she maintained some inventory online. Now she needs to totally liquidate it by the end of the month. I believe she is selling everything at 65% off. So hop on over to her site and see what finds there are to be had.

By the way, I know I am late on my newsletter for December it will be on its way soon. But I have to tell you I am also late on my blogiversary. It happened last month, but my 100th post is coming up soon. So keep your eyes opened.

Until next time, Happy Quilting!

More Retreat Pictures

Sorry the font looks weird in this post..... Blogger is going haywire today.

Hello Everyone,

First I want to say that I am overwhelmed by the enthusiasm over my Black and White Challenge. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone's work over the next year and getting to know you all better. It is going to be a great project.

I have been really busy quilting customer quilts to return them prior to Christmas. You can see some new ones I added to my site by clicking here.

Anyway, in my last post prior to the challenge I was showing you photos of my yearly retreat with friend of mine. I shared with you everything that I accomplished, now I would like to show you some of what my friends did.

Here Joan is showing her beautiful Christmas stitchery.  She worked long and hard on this one.
Here Erica is showing her wonderful pink and green star quilt. I just love the colors.

Terry is showing an apron she worked on made from one Fat Quarter. I believe this is going to be a gift. I can't believe I just didn't get a picture of the quilts she was working on at the retreat. Darn!

Here is what Eileen was working on. Sorry I don't have a picture of Eileen with her 2 projects. The biggest one on the design wall was a hold over from last years retreat. She really made progress this year.

Maria made this wonderful snuggly flannel quilt among tons more projects. She is definitely an over achiever at these retreats.  We love her!

Justine is just plum tuckered out while she is modeling this quilt.  She is our pillow case queen. She just brought this quilt over to me to quilt. So this will be in my gallery soon.

Julie also accomplished quite a bit. Among them she was working on this Double Irish Chain for her son.

Patty made this beautiful spring batik quilt. She is going to use this on her table come spring time.
Diane made this wonderful contemporary quilt.  I just love it and also quilted this one for her. This will be in my gallery soon as well.

So there was a little look into my retreat. Good times, friends and quilting!

I am also going to put a post on the Black and White Quilt Blog today, be sure to check it out.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Jackie
