Arizona Personal and Virtual Shop Hop.....

As promised, I am officially posting about my wonderful trip to AZ and the many quilt shops visited. I love going to see my parents in AZ because there are so many quilt shops to visit while I am there and believe me my mom is a real trooper and takes me to all of them. She is not a quilter, but a great mom!

So the 1st picture is me with my new shoes 1st seen here, and now on my feet. They are walking into here. This shop is a small one and primarily sells sewing machines, as seen in their shop sign.

The next shop I went to is one of my favs...Quiltz. You can see my mother here anxiously??? waiting to go in to shop.
The next shop is lovely as well, Quilter's Ranch. They are very nice and have a good variety of fabrics, patterns, and books.Another shop that I really like is Quilter's Oasis. Kathy, the owner, is very nice and always recognizes me when I come in...which is saying a lot since I am only in about 2 times per year. I was there the 1st day they opened their store. Kathy was also kind enough to let me take some pictures inside the shop. If your in the area stop by and tell her Jackie from CT sent you. Then as luck would have it my husband wanted to take a day trip to Tombstone and we had to travel through Tucson. On the way, of course, we made a pit stop at this shop....Cactus Quilt Shop. My family could go next door and get their shoes repaired if need be.Then even more luck. We got to Tombstone and their was a Quilt Show.
Here are some of the pictures. Then back to Phoenix area. Another of my favs...Zoe's Trunk. Love, love, love this store lots of eye candy. The Quilter's Koop is another favorite. It is small but great ideas!A surprise this year, Cutting Edge Quiltworks moved their store in the same strip mall but a bigger space, very nice.I will leave you with this last picture. We went to Wickenburg on our last day and visited Vulture Mine. Lots of abandoned buildings, but look what was in one of them......Oh to sew!!
So I have provided within this post the links to these wonderful shops, please visit them on the web or if you get to AZ visit them in person!

Next post I show you some of the loot I picked up at the shops.

Happy Quilting!! Jackie

Color on My Feet!!

I have been busily binding the black, white, and red quilt for my friend and will have a completed picture soon. I haven't done much other sewing lately, as I am on a mission to get this quilt complete.

However, I wanted to share with you my shopping finds yesterday. I went to Kohl's and found some really cute shoes, yes, shoes. Not only were they on sale, but I had an additional 20% off!!! Anyway, they are really cute spring/summer type shoes. ( Yes, I am yearning for warmer weather.) So in my quest to feel more springlike, I bought them. Here they are:

These strawberry ones are just adorable and I can't wait to wear them.

I just love the bright plaid shoes...I love color!!

That's all for now folks. A quilt related post will be up and coming.

Black, White, and Red Top...Done! Ikea Furniture Up!

I have had and extremely busy 4 days! First things first. My hubby and I worked hard all weekend emptying a portion of my studio and then building 2 Ikea units, from the VARDE collection. We also put up 2 shelves from the LACK collection. I moved everything back in and I am completely organized and loving it. Here is a picture with the pieces in place....I spent Sunday placing everything back in and organizing. I love, love, love it..oh wait I said that already.

Then the rest of Sunday was spent on completing the black, white, and red quilt top for my friend. Here is a picture of my cat Beanie modeling it for you.I will actually have a picture of it quilted in just a few days. I am going to put it on my Gammill tomorrow night to quilt it. The pattern is called Twisted Sister by Ami Simms. It was really easy to do. I am thinking of making another in brights!

I also just have to leave you with one more picture of my Rolo just for laughs!! He is such a character!! Have a great night!

I've Been Tagged!!

Wow, Helen from Holland has tagged me!! Here are the rules:

The rules of the meme are:
1. When tagged, place the name of the person and URL on your blog
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Write 7 things about yourself
4. Name 7 of your favourite weblogs
5. Send an e-mail letting those bloggers know they have been tagged

Here goes 7 things about myself:

1. I live in beautiful New England, USA. I absolutely love where I live, with the exception of the cold winters. I have always said to my husband that if we could have spring and summer year round this would be the most perfect place on earth. I guess nothing is perfect, but nonetheless I love it. After all the winter allows me to stay inside and be cozy with all my quilting activities!! That's a definite plus in my book.

2. I started quilting about 15 years ago. However, I really still have my 1st patchwork project from 6th grade Home Economics. It was a pillow, which I still own. So if you want to figure that in I started quilting.....well.....a long time ago and then picked it back up 15 years ago. The hobby quickly became a business, Canton Village Quilt Works. I have been long arm quilting for 8 years for many wonderful quilters!! These quilter's continue to make my business thrive and I love them all. They give me so much inspiration on a daily basis.

3. I have 2 cats, Rolo (20lbs) and Beanie (normal size). We absolutely love them. They are great friends to us and follow us around like lap dogs. We did have 2 other cats, Mr. Bud and Humphrey, but they both passed at the ages of 17. Here are my current cats Rolo and Beanie, aren't they great?

4. I love to travel with my family. We do a lot and this year is no different. This year we will be traveling to Arizona 2 times, Alaska, and Peru. Of course when I travel I do stop at every quilt shop I can and pick up some piece of fabric or pattern that intrigues me. I am especially looking forward to Peru. I hear there are some great textiles there.

5. I love to cook, when I have the time. Mostly I love to bake and think that I am pretty good at baking items such as cookies and pies. In fact, today I am going to bake a Toll House Cookie Pie. Mmmmm....maybe I will post the recipe later. Even though I like to cook, I do enjoy going out to eat very much.

6. I love bright colors and just color in general. Colors make me happy. I especially love bright pinks, greens, and purples. This is clearly reflected in my stash choices.
7. Here goes...one of my weaknesses is computers. I don't consider myself very computer saavy and jumping into the land of blogging and owning my own website is changing that in a positive way. I am learning more about computers than I ever thought I would. I also have to give credit to my son who is highly capable in the computer world!!

8. I now have many favorite blogs, here is just a sampling:

Coffee Time Quilt Studio
Bunny Tales
Helen's Blog
All Stitched Up
Pam Kitty Morning
Crazy for Primitive Quilts and Gardens
Sew and Sox
Auntie's Quaint Quilts

One other thing about me is I love the RED SOX!!!!

Oh, and by the way, all the above, with the exception of Helen, are being tagged! I will send you all an e-mail!! I was able to send everyone an e-mail except for Jen at Sew and Sox. So Jen if you are reading this you have been tagged!! Just follow the rules above if you would like to, if not that is okay too.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Sewing With Friends and a Change in Projects

Sorry it has been a few days since my last post. I have been very busy. On Monday I started a new project. I needed a little break from my 30's project and it seems I am now doing the complete opposite. I started cutting the fabric on Sunday. I chose them all from my stash. It is a black, white, and red quilt. I am making it for a friend, but she doesn't know. Shhhhhhhh!!I then took the project to my quilting group on Monday and worked more on it there. I stayed longer than anyone else. I was on a mission!! However, my friends did bring some show and tell. June was working on this woven quilt. Yes, you heard right woven!! Isn't it great!! She even made her own Mola in the center! Then Jane was working on this turquoise quilt. She thought that it was blah and asked if she should appliqué turtles on top. We were all in agreement....add the turtles!! What do you think?
She was also working on seahorse appliqué for possibly the label. Very creative!!The other Jane was working on a Dear Jane. Jane working on a Dear Jane??? Yes. Anyway, here is a look at her project for the day.Justine was in and out of the room all day, but she was busy working on a table runner. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of this, sorry Justine.

If you are wondering, yes this is the meeting of the J's....Jackie, June, Jane, Justine, Jane, and Julee (who wasn't there). We do have one P however....Pam. Even thought she is not a J we love her just the same.

I have also posted some new pictures of customer's quilts in my gallery on my website. Check them out here.

I do have quite a bit more done on my black, white, and red quilt. I just haven't taken the pictures. I promise I will and will post over the weekend. Until then.....

Happy Quilting

A Day of Shopping

Today I went shopping to Ikea! I really love that place, even if you don't buy anything it is a fun place. The intent was to buy a new piece of furniture for my studio. Which I did. Here it is.It will act as my cutting table/storage area. I can't wait to assemble it and put it up. Now I only have to clean out the old area first! While at Ikea, I also stopped in the textiles area and found this really groovy fabric. I love, love, love it!! Maybe use it as a backing on a quilt. That's all for now, short post today!

A Nice Surprise and More!

The weather man was calling for freezing weather later on in the day. Just a side note that the "bad weather" did not start until around 10:30. So it was definitely a good day to stay inside.

Anyway, I did work and quilted another customer's quilt today. It is beautiful. I love the colors pink and green. You can see it here on my website. I also added some other pictures of some other quilts done this week. They are also on my site.

I did receive a surprise from Paula. Here is a picture of th
e goodies that were delivered by the mail woman. Thanks Paula!! Visit her here.Later on, we made these. It was a good day to do this as it pretty much rained all day. Good day for sewing, cuddling up with a good book, and making cookies. The night ended with our new family ritual of watching Hawaii Five-O. My husband and I remember watching Hawaii Five-O, as my kids would say..."back in the day". Now we are all enjoying the series. We are now on Season 3 of the DVD sets. That is all that is out. There are 12 Seasons. We have a lot more to go!! If you remember them, they are fun to watch, again.

Have a great night!!
