Hold on To Your Hats!

Hi Everyone,

I'm back from Vacationing in AZ! We had wonderful weather, in the mid 80's and sunny everyday. I'll tell you, you just can't beat it! Long walks and sunshine daily does a body good!

Anyway, now hold on to your hats... As promised I finished my Cherrywood Quilt and gave it to the recipient over vacation, my father!! It was a 75th birthday present for him and he loved it. I had to finish binding over vacation, but it was completed only a few days in.

Here is a picture of the birthday boy with his quilt!

There are more pictures posted here if you are interested in seeing close ups! I quilted it with Cherrywoods new dyed to match variegated thread from YLI. It quilted like a dream.

Of course, while in AZ I visited some of my favorite quilt shops and assisted in keeping the economy going. I will post some pictures of my takes. Also, found some great shoes too! So stayed tuned for more later this week.

Happy Quilting!!

Fabric, Books, and Blocks...

First, I must apologize it has been a few days since I posted and I feel badly I haven't responded to your recent comments, but I will. It has been very hectic around here. I was off at MQX in NH and just got back. I took 2 classes from Anita Shackelford. One word....WONDERFUL!! The quilts were to die for and the vendors fantastic. Of course, I had to spend some money.

Any way that is one of the reasons, I have been MIA. But I am also, getting ready for vacation too!! Yippee!! I promise I will be responding to your comments, so please don't be shy!

But before I go, I wanted to show you a few things. As some of you may know, I was one of the lucky ones to win a wonderful fat quarter pack from Anne of Bunny Hill Designs! She is fabulous and so are her fabrics. They are gorgeous. Go check them out on her site! Here is what she sent me:

I also picked up a good read for my vacation. I have read all of Jennifer's books...in order too!! I love them all. Check out her website.

Lastly but not leastly (a word??, nah!). My friend, June, had done a block challenge for a group she belongs to and had made a few too many blocks. She did not want them, so of course, I volunteered to take them off of her hands. I absolutely love them!! They are bright and cheerful and remind my of Freddie Moran's Houses.

Oh, one other reason I have have been so busy, I have been quilting customer quilts like a mad woman. I have just updated my website with about 7 new quilts. Check them out here. Gorgeous!

For those of you who are wondering where the picture of my Cherrywood quilt is, it is coming. I did quilt it and I am in the process of binding it, so hold on to your hats and stay tuned!

Happy Quilting,
Jackie

Official Inspector of Stuff

As many of you have pets at home that inspect your work, well so do I. They also frequently help me. This particular day both my cats Rolo and Beanie decided to help me work on a stitchery. Rolo loves to cuddle up with me on my lap, he just doesn't realize that he is 20 lbs and takes up quite a bit of room. Beanie on the other hand is 1/2 of his size and sits nicely at my feet. Pardon the really pink slippers, remember I have cold feet here in New England. Here are pictures of that day.

As you can see it is a little difficult to work with a 20 lb cat in your lap. After a little while he discovered that there was actually floss going up and down and starting to play with it as I worked. I then had to shoo him away!

Here are the results of the work that day.

Also, here is the Dove from Lynette Anderson's FREE BOM. I am enjoying doing the Noah's Ark BOM and can't wait to start the next one.

Stayed tuned, my Mambo quilt and my Cherrywood Quilt tops are done and I plan on putting them on my Gammill this weekend for quilting. They will be in my next post!!

If you are still with me now, Julie K is giving away a quilt on her blog!! Hurry go check it out and comment!

Twice Tagged!

As some of you may know, I have been tagged twice!! Once by Jen of Sew and Sox, and once by Jess of Heads Carolina, Tail California. So anyway, here are the rules:

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post THE RULES on your blog.
3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 7 people and link to them.
5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

Here are the 7 random facts about me:

1. I wear socks to bed because my feet are always so cold, sometimes even in the summer!

2. I drink lots and lots of herbal tea during the day. I always love something warm to drink and herbal tea does the trick.

3. The first time I took Home Economics in 6th grade, I loved it!!

4. When I was in grade school, I took ballet, tap, and modern dance. I loved it and was very coordinated then...what happened? Oh yeah, age set in!

5. I can't carry a tune worth a dime and my family never lets me forget!! Partly because I like to sing to songs and it really makes their ears bleed and totally ruins the song.

6. Two years ago, a good friend of mine and I went to see Tom Jones in concert and had a blast! Unfortunately, we did not think ahead and were without a spare pair of underwear to throw on the stage. He has still got it after all these years and has many followers and lots of underwear on the stage to prove it.

7. I hate the cold weather, but live in New England. Go figure!

That's it...I hope you found it interesting or not.

Here is who I am tagging:

Tracey from Quilting in Connecticut
Dawn from Sew Ritzy Itzy
Anne Heidi from Piece by Piece
Arlette from Polka Dot Pineapple
Denise from Happy Apple Quilts
Eileen from Eileen's Attic
Christine from Auntie's Quaint Quilts

So now you need to go check their blogs for those 7 random facts!

Have fun and stay tuned for some more great project finishes this week!

As Promised, New Fabric, New Blocks Progress

I like to think that I always keep my promises. So you can count this one as kept!! My sister-in-law recently went to the Quilter's Heritage Celebration in Lancaster. I usually go but haven't been in the last couple of years due to unforeseen circumstances. (very sad :( face). Anyway, Cherrywood Fabrics is always there as they are one of the sponsors. So as any good quilter would do that desperately needs more fabric, I called her on her cell begging her to pick me up some of their wonderful hand dyed fabrics. They are seriously wonderful and they look like suede...NO LIE!! If you have never seen them before you have to go to there website by clicking here. Anyway, here is a picture of what she picked up for me.

They also now have dyed thread to match some of their color gradations. So of course, I asked her to pick up some of the thread too. She it sitting on top of the fabric...YUMMY!

Okay, so once I had this fabric in my hot little hands, I promptly washed it up and started cutting away. Here are the results. I made this block first....

Then this block was made second....

Then I put the blocks together and here are the current results. Keep in mind this quilt is not yet finished. I have to add a piano keys type border yet.

Here you can see Rolo inspecting my work and approving! By the way, these last 2 pictures of the fabric are a better depiction of their true colors.

She also picked me up an extra surprise from The Old Country Store. They are really fun, aren't they?

One other order of business, I have been tagged by both Jen of Sew and Sox and Jess of Heads Carolina and Tails California. I have not forgotten about this and I am planning a post dedicated just to this. I just haven't thought of what to post. I know you may think this is a lame excuse, but I have only come up with 2 things. I promise I will post it within the next week...honest!! So be sure to check back

Also, don't forget to check my website. I updated the gallery with more customer quilts. My April Newsletter is also up online, check out the tips and the Blog of the Month. If you would like, sign up to receive it while you are there.

Until next time....Happy Quilting!

I Love Mail!!

I have been so busy this week and my next few posts are definitely going to prove that. First off, I am very late in posting that my bunny arrived from Hannah at Gently Tip Toe. Not only did she make this very cute bunny that all my friends are loving, including myself, but she sent me a little goody box as well.My kids first noticed the goody box because there was lots of little candies in it, yes I have shared! She also put buttons, threads, bunny decorations, and shaped confetti. I love it all!! Thank you sooooo much Hannah.

I also received my order from Ella and Skysie Designs. I fell in love with these because of Peg at Happy in Quilting. I saw them here and just had to do them!! I also purchased the Violets R Blue as well. I can't wait to get started. Thanks Peg!!

As I said, I have been very busy, mostly quilting my customers quilts. You can see them here on my website. I will be adding more pictures later this week, so be sure to check back. I am also working on my April Newsletter, which will go out via e-mail hopefully later this week. If you are interested in reading it, please subscribe here.

In my next post, I will be showing you some scrumptious fabrics that my Sister-in-law brought for me from the Quilter's Heritage Celebration. Also, the quilt that I am creating with them. So as they say in T. V. land .......Stay Tuned!!!

Happy Quilting!!
