It Is Sort of Private

Hello Everyone,

On Wednesday, it was my honor to teach a private group of ladies who call themselves the Sew Much Fabric Quilters.  Isn't that the best?  I think that we can all relate to that on sum level, right?

We all love fabric and really need it to complete our projects, so we just keep getting more.  Personally, I don't see a problem with that, do you?

Any who...  This group of ladies wanted to learn the Technique of The Month (TOM) the Glacier Star.

We got started and these ladies took right off...

A couple of New York Beauties with their New York Beauties!!

Yay!! She got it done!!

New York beautiful!

Great colors!

See I told you it was kind of private....

Boy, I never get tired of teaching this class!

Stay tuned for more.... if you would like to take this class with me locally, I now have it on the schedule and ready for registration.  You can register online here.

Until Next Time...

Showing Them The Ropes....

Hello Everyone,

Wow, where does time go.... this week I have actually been home, but busy taking care of some home matters as well as teaching locally.  It is great to be home, but boy TONS of spring things to do.  Plus the weather has been pretty nice here and things are starting to finally feel like SPRING!!

So I am getting caught up on quilty things.  These are some images from my class that I taught on Sunday.  This is the rope section of the Mariner's Compass Class that is going on in NY.  All the ladies in the class have some fabulous variations and I can't wait to see ALL their quilts completed!

Here are a few of the variations on the ropes.  There are 19 students in this class so there are many more photos, you just need to click here to see them.

Love this purple version.

Here are three different ropes from three different ladies.

This a a very mellow yellow.

Great autumnal colors.

Even though this one isn't trimmed up, I am in LOVE... these are sooooo my colors.

Here is a little peek at what the ropes will look like in the wedge.

And another.

Didn't I tell you, it really makes you want to see more, doesn't it??  I love this Mariner's Compass!

I just added another to the class schedule for the fall.  You can register online by clicking here.

If you would like to see more photos, click here.

A Fantastic Class and A Recurrent Theme

Hello Everyone,

On Saturday I taught a really fun group of ladies in Sturbridge, MA at Sturbridge Quilting and Sewing. These ladies were fun, fun, fun!!

The class was the first session of two.  They are working on Summer Solstice.  So they worked on piecing their New York Beauty blocks and the Lone Star sections.

Here is a very pretty Lime and Black NYB  and here comes the recurrent theme...

Lime and Black again.

Not so lime, but black spikes.  These ladies love their black spikes and you can tell they know how to have a good time when sewing.

You can see my Summer Solstice hanging on the wall at the right.

I can't wait to see their finished homework.  Next session we will piece the borders.

If you are interested in taking a class with me, check out my schedule by clicking here.  I just added several classes that I will be teaching in Arizona.  If you live there, I would love to see you!!

You can see more photos from the Summer Solstice class by clicking here.  Enjoy!!

Top Is Done!

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon finishing my Indian Summer quilt top.  I applied the borders and the top is now complete!  I must say I am smitten with this top.

Although not my usual color palette, it would fit very well in my parents home in the southwest!  Wink, wink... Mom!

Earthy tones form a hidden secondary star.

Geese converge not sure of which direction to go.

An inner border of brown frames up the interior body of the quilt.

Gradated in color they complete the quilt.

And we have Indian Summer.  Although we are heading into spring time and I am extremely excited about that, I must say that I don't mind having an Indian Summer in the form of a quilt.

Some things you may want to know about this quilt...

1.  I am offering this as a class beginning in September, 2013 and it is currently online for you to register.  Click here for the information and to register.

2.  The same color palate is available in a quilt kit in my online shop by clicking here.

3.  If you would just like the pattern, you can find it in my online shop by clicking here.

Now onto quilting this top... hmmm... but I guess that means that I have to piece the backing first.

Until Next Time...

Inspirational

Hello Everyone,

As many of you know, I have open sew days at my studio.  These are days when you can come and work on whatever projects that you happen to be making at the time.  I love these days because I get to sew too!  But I always love what the others bring along.

They are always different and constantly inspiring!!  Here are a few from Wind It Up Wednesday.

Nancy's bed quilt... borders in progress.

Sabrina laying out her wheels. Too fun!!

Leslie's mini Schlep bag made all from Kaffe Fassett fabrics.

Nancy's quilt with borders on... it is HUGE!!

Leslie finished a Yellow Brick Road quilt.

Now I must tell you there were quite a few more photos, but the quilts were to be given as gifts and or not to be revealed yet.  Therefore, I could not post them here per request of the quilter.  But trust me there was definitely LOTS more inspiration.

What inspires you?  Leave me a comment to let me know.

For some more inspiration, click here to see me blog post on Quilt Magazine's site today and leave me a comment there too with your thoughts.

Until Next Time...

What I Am Working On....

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was Wind It Up Wednesday at my classroom studio.  I have photos of what the other ladies were working on and will show them tomorrow.  However, I wanted to share with you what I am working on right now.

It is no secret that I love Australian Aboriginal fabrics.  The designs, color, and feel are just wonderful to the eye and to the touch.  So much that you can do the possibilities are endless.

I started by cutting up strips.

Arranging them in pleasing orders.   Yes, that is some African fabrics that you see in the back of the photo.  I love them too!

The piles of prettiness are always inspiring to me and they were to the ladies that were with me yesterday.

Some simple designing, coupled with a....

speedy sewing machine, makes for a design that you will be seeing soon in an upcoming Quilt Magazine.  So stay tuned for the final glorious design.

If you would like some Australian fabrics you can click here, or if you prefer African you can click here.  But I will warn you they are addicting.

Until Next Time...
